For this week’s Tasty Tuesday, we would like to share with you a recipe from one of our WorkSource funded staff members, Leslie. On Thursday, December 23rd, we had the honor of hosting a brunch as a thank you to our amazing volunteers and WorkSource funded staff and Leslie’s Ponche was a huge hit!
Ponche is a drink commonly enjoyed in the winter and near the holidays in Mexico. Leslie’s mother shared this recipe with her and now she would like to share it with you. The fruits in this recipe can be substituted for what you have on hand.
Ingredients
2 gallons of water
12″ – 16″ of cinnamon sticks
2 apples
2 oranges
1 jar of guavas
2 cups of pineapple
1 cup prunes
1 cup raisins
Sugar cane pieces
1/2 jar of tejocates
Sugar as needed
Instructions
- Boil water with cinnamon sticks.
- Then add fruit.
- Simmer for 1 hour.
- Taste, add sugar as needed.
